PrairieSky Royalty believes in giving back to the community where we work and live.
PrairieSky Royalty's Community Investment program has three main focus areas:
1. Promoting healthy communities
2. Giving back to our communities
3. Engaging employees in the community
To promote healthy communities, we have created the PrairieSky Royalty Physical Literacy Program in partnership with the YMCA to involve children in healthy, positive activities during critical after-school hours. This program equips staff with knowledge and understanding of fundamental movements to develop programs that provide youth the confidence to engage in a wide range of activities to develop into healthy, active adults. Children 8 to 12 years old have the chance to belong, grow, thrive, and lead in a positive environment with great role models. Kids are able to develop a sense of belonging in school and the community, with no fee to participate.
The Alex Community Food Centre (CFC) provides access to high-quality food in a dignified setting. Through cooking and gardening programs, community members come together to find their collective voice on complex social issues. The CFC offers food access, food skills, and education and engagement programs to low-income community members. The Alex CFC aims to increase physical and mental health and community connections, and engage people in meaningful social change. PrairieSky has partnered with the CFC to support The Cookin’ Ahead Program, which will run for 6-week cycles and allow participants to learn food skills, cook collectively, meet new friends and neighbours and take home meals.
PrairieSky is a lead sponsor for the Ski for Heart event in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The event is a family friendly weekend in the Rockies for Albertans who share a passion for the outdoors, and a commitment to support life-saving heart and stroke research. Funds raised from the event are used to sponsor a research project for one year.
PrairieSky Royalty encourages employees to give back to our communities and employees are active in supporting causes that make a significant and positive impact where we work and live. Our commitment in the community is made possible by the generosity of our employees. Employees are offered the opportunity to volunteer in the community, such as with the Drop-In Centre, running an annual United Way campaign and taking part in our community partnership program with the YMCA.
